The Chicago Bulls have shipped former MVP point guard Derrick Rose, reserve guard Justin Holiday, and a 2nd round pick in 2017 to the New York Knicks for center Robin Lopez, and point guards Jerian Grant and Jose Calderon.

The Bulls and Knicks are both in rebuilding stage after disappointing 2015-2016 seasons. The Knicks have had 3 consecutive disappointing seasons in which they have missed the playoffs, while the Bulls missed the playoffs this past season for the 1st time since the 2007-2008 season.

The best and most key player in this trade is point guard Derrick Rose. Rose was the NBA MVP in the 2010-2011 season, but has always had injury issues. In an expiring contract season this upcoming 2016-2017 season for the Knicks, Rose will look to prove his worth and earn himself a huge contract for the 2017-2018 season and beyond.
