Nico Rosberg had won 7 straight Formula 1 races dating back to last season. Today, however, he and teammate Lewis Hamilton collided on turn 4 of the 1st lap of the Formula 1 Gran Premio de Espana Pirelli 2016, causing them to be out of the race before it really got going.

The stewards are still investigating the accident, which occurred when Hamilton got a run on Rosberg for 1st place and Rosberg cut him off into the grass. Hamilton then came back onto race course and spun right into Rosberg, sending them both into the gravel.

Today, it was 18-year-old Max Verstappen’s day, as he held off veteran Kimi Raikkonen from lap 44 all the way until the final lap, lap 66, to win his maiden F1 race by 0.616 seconds, becoming the youngest ever winner of an F1 race at 18 years of age.

Max is the son of former 8-year F1 driver Jos Verstappen, 44, who started in 107 F1 races over his career, but never once saw the checkered flag before the rest of the field.

The next Formula 1 race is the crown jewel of the schedule, the Monaco Grand Prix, on Sunday, May 29th, at 8:00 AM ET.
