Blue Jays, Bautista Reach Contract Extension Agreement

The Toronto Blue Jays and right fielder Jose Bautista have agreed to a 1-year, $18 million contract extension agreement.

Bautista, 36, has been in the MLB for 13 seasons and has played for 5 different teams. This past season, he played in 116 games and bat .234 with 99 hits, 68 runs scored, 22 home runs, 69 runs batted in, and 2 stolen bases. Over his 13-year MLB career, Bautista has played in 1,519 games and has a .255 batting average with 1,311 hits, 878 runs scored, 308 home runs, 862 runs batted in, and 60 stolen bases.

Bautista’s career highs in a single MLB season are a .302 batting average (2011 with the Blue Jays), 158 hits (2014 with the Blue Jays), 109 runs scored (2010 with the Blue Jays), 54 home runs (2010 with the Blue Jays), 124 runs batted in (2010 with the Blue Jays), and 9 stolen bases (2010 and 2011 with the Blue Jays).
