The Michigan Wolverines football team has gotten off to a great start in 2016. As they prepare for the top 10 matchup against the #8 Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday, here is a brief summary of their season to date.

Results:

Week 1 vs. hawaii Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, W 63-3

Week 2 vs. ucf Central Florida Knights, W 51-14

Week 3 vs. colo Colorado Buffaloes, W 45-28

Week 4 vs. psu Pennsylvania State Nittany Lions, W 49-10

Offensive MVP:

Wilton Speight had a lot to prove as the starting quarterback for the Wolverines this season. Unlike Jake Rudock from 2015, Speight  was completely unproven and was probably considered the underdog to most people when matching up against Houston transfer John O’Korn.

When Speight took the field for the first time against Hawaii, the crowd reaction was fairly mixed. After his first pass was intercepted, there was definitely unrest among the Wolverine faithful. However, Speight responded and went 10 for 13 with 145 yards and 3 touchdowns that game to help get the win.

Proving himself worthy to the faithful of Michigan and to the country was a big deal for Speight. So far, he has gotten the job done it will be interesting to see if he can keep it going not only against Wisconsin on Saturday, but also the rest of the season as well.

Defensive MVP

Jabrill Peppers is the best player in college football if not for Lamar Jackson. He was a great safety in his first year, but this is just unreal. Through 4 games, Peppers has posted 30 tackles and 2.5 sacks at linebacker. While he does not have an interception yet in his young college career, he makes up for it in his special teams prowess.

In the Hawaii game, we saw an epic play from Peppers when he literally jumped over the punter. However, it was not until the Colorado game that he was able to take a punt back for a touchdown.

The hype around him is real. Seeing him play in person is something I will never forget because of the pure electricity around him. He is always jumping and dancing around, and his play on the field backs it up and makes it all even better for Michigan fans. If he can keep making more plays on defense and keep up the good work on special teams, then Jabrill Peppers will be, without a doubt, a Heisman candidate at the end of the season.

Next Week: vs. wisc #8 Wisconsin Badgers
