Top 5 College Football Rivalries

With the college football season right around the corner, there isn’t a better way to get pumped for the season then to take a look at all the hated matchups we will see this year.
5)YALE Yale Bulldogs vs. HARV Harvard Crimson 

Yup, Ivy League Football. This game between probably the two most academically prestigious schools in the nation is the longest running rivalry in college in football. The teams first met in 1875 and Yale leads the all-time series 65-59-8 with the largest margin of victory as well.

4) MIAMI Miami Hurricanes vs. FSU Florida State Seminoles

These teams have nothing less than pure hatred for each other. From the hay days of Miami in the 80s and 90s to the recent domination by Florida State every single season, these games are always war. With dozens of NFL Hall of Famers who have played in this game like Derrick Brooks, Deion Sanders, Warren Sapp, Micheal Irvin and others, this game has always made for a big match up. These two teams first met in 1951, with Miami leading the all-time series 31-29. Both Florida State and Miami have scored 47 points, which is the largest margin of victory for this rivalry.

3) TEXAS Texas Longhorns vs. OKLA Oklahoma Sooners (Red River Rivalry)

Texas and Oklahoma have owned the south in college football for a long time. From the 2000s with Vince Young to the 1980s with Brian Bosworth, these two power house programs always play tough when they meet. Texas won the first meeting back in 1900 and they lead the all-time series 61-44-5.

2) AUB Auburn Tigers vs. BAMA Alabama Crimson Tide (Iron Bowl)

The next two are really a tie, but this game is the premier sporting event in the state of Alabama. A state divided so badly, in fact, that not even the devastation of a giant tornado could change the hatred that these two communities have for one another. The recent success isn’t hard to find, as there are National Championships for both teams over the last 10 years, and multiple for Alabama. Heisman trophy winners like Cam Newton and Mark Ingram have headlined this long-time hate fest in the heart of the south. The two schools first played in 1893, and Alabama leads the all-time series with a 44-35-1 advantage.

1) MICH Michigan Wolverines vs. OHIOST Ohio State Buckeyes (The Game)

It’s “That team up North” vs “Ohio”. From Desmond Howard to Charles Woodson, the amount of amazing moments in this game have been endless. There have been fights, big plays, and close games. Now with Jim Harbaugh coaching Michigan, it will further fuel the hatred that in the Ohio State-Michigan game. It is known by many as “The Game” because of its influence on the Rose Bowl and National Championships in the past. Michigan leads the all time series 58-47-6 and has the largest margin of victory with 86.
