St. Louis has locked down their starting goalie today by paying  Jake Allen $17.4 million over 4 years to stay with the Blues.

Last season was one of Allen’s best. He set career marks in games played (47), wins (26) and also save percentage (.920).  The St Louis Blues would also make a great playoff run until they fell just short of the San Jose Sharks in the Western Conference Finals. Allen, who will be turning 26 in August, had one year still remaining on his 2-year $4.7 million contract that he signed before the start of last season.

Allen will more than likely be the starter between the pipes for the Blues this season, especially after the move the Blues made to trade goalie Brian Elliott to the Calgary Flames for pick no. 35 in 2016 NHL Draft. In his career, Jake Allen has won 57 0f his 99 career starts. He has a .915 save percentage and 2.34 goals against average.

With a new contract in place fans in St Louis now know who the goalie of their franchise will be and hope that he can help them to a Stanley Cup victory.
