The Sacramento Kings have signed former Memphis Grizzlies head coach David Joerger to be their newest head coach. The deal is reportedly for $16M over 4 years.

Joerger had spent his whole eight previous seasons with Memphis. He was the assistant coach for 5 years and was the head coach for 3 years. He has a record of 147-99 in his three seasons.

Memphis was recently swept by the San Antonio Spurs in the first round in the playoffs. They have made the playoffs in all three seasons under Joerger, but losing in the first round in two of those years is a valid reason for his release.

“I am thrilled to welcome Dave to the Sacramento Kings. He is a strong and passionate leader with a proven track record of producing results. Dave shares our focus on creating a long-term culture of winning and I look forward to a bright future ahead for the Kings with his leadership on the court.”
