Chelsea has drawn with Tottenham Hotspur 2-2, which means Leicester City have won the Premier League. Tottenham went up 2-0 just before halftime, but Chelsea rallied back from a goal off of a corner tapped in by Gary Cahill, then a wonder goal from the Belgian Eden Hazard in the 82′.

Today, Tottenham needed a win to stay alive, but the draw was the dagger to their title hopes.

This is Leicester’s first title in their 132 year history. At the beginning of the season, Leicester had 5000-1 odds to win the league.

To compare:

  • The Philadelphia 76ers had 400-1 odds to win the 2016 NBA title
  • The odds of getting a hole in one is also 5,000 to 1.
  • The odds of bowling a perfect game is 1 in 11,500.
  • Odds of winning an Academy Award is 1 in 11,500
  • The odds of dying in air and space transport incidents are 1 in 7,178.

Leicester’s best performers this year include Englishman Jamie Vardy and Algerian Riyad Mahrez. Vardy tallied 22 goals and 6 assists and Mahrez had 17 goals and 11 assists. Riyad Mahrez was recently named to the BPL PFA Team of the Year for 2015-16 and Vardy FWA Footballer of the Year for 2015-16.

The Foxes’ best previous finish was 2nd a whopping 87 years ago. Congratulations to Leicester on defying the odds and becoming Champions!
