The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners, headlined by only 2 earned runs (and 1 unearned run) over 7 innings for Masahiro Tanaka and Alex Rodriguez breaking out of his hitting slump with a big 2-run homer. Hisashi Iwakuma pitched decent, allowing 4 runs in 7 innings.
After gaining a 4-3 lead after the seventh, New York was able to hand the ball over to arguably the best 1-2 in a Major League bullpen. Both Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller threw a scoreless inning on their way to the victory.
