Going into the 2015-2016 NCAA basketball season, everyone had a clear-cut image of who the number one pick would be: Ben Simmons. As time went by, LSU basketball started to fall in the rankings and eventually didn’t even make the tournament. Another great player named Brandon Ingram led Duke to the tournament, and past the first two rounds.
All of this aside, NBA teams actually have decisions to make. With various players entering the draft and various players staying in college, they need to make sure they pick the right player. With Ben Simmons and LSU not playing good enough to get into the tournament but Brandon Ingram leading Duke, this could be a major factor for both who are looking to sneak into the number 1 spot.
In my opinion, I still have Ben Simmons going number 1 overall. A dominating force on the glass and in the scoring department, he looks like a younger Kevin Love when Love was with the Timberwolves. If he can improve and grow into a player who can be better than that, I think he has a real shot to be a great NBA player.
