Chicago Cubs left fielder/catcher Kyle Schwarber was carted off last night in the 2nd inning of a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks with an apparent leg injury after colliding with teammate center fielder Dexter Fowler. They were both chasing a line drive off of the bat of the D-Backs shortstop Jean Segura when Fowler dove into Schwarber’s planted leg. In pain, Schwarber tried to crawl for the ball, but Segura rounded the bases for an inside-the-park home run, his second homer of the game.

Update: After an MRI Friday, it was announced that Cubs left fielder Kyle Schwarber will be out for the season with a full ACL and LCL tear. He was 0 for 4 with a walk thus far in the 2016 MLB season after batting .246 with 16 home runs and 43 RBIs in his rookie campaign a year ago in which he played in just 69 of the Cubs’ 162 games.
