New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton has signed a 5 year deal worth $45M.
The Saints finished 7-9 on the season for the past 2 years, preceded by an 11-5 year. The season prior was a 7-9 season as well, but Payton was suspended for that season after the ‘Bounty Scandal’.
The Saints have only made the playoffs in one of the last 3 years after a series of disappointing under .500 seasons. They plan to bounce back this year.
Payton is now the highest paid coach in the NFL, just ahead of Seattle’s Pete Carroll and New England’s Bill Belichick ($8M/yr)
