The NFL has created seven new rules for the upcoming NFL season. They are as follows.
- PATs will permanently be moved to the 15-yard line. Also, the defense can return PATs if necessary.
- Offense and defensive play callers will be allowed to use coach-to-player communication regardless of location (field, booth, etc).
- All forms of chop blocks are prohibited.
- Horse collar now refers to being grabbed on anything from the name plate up and being pulled towards the ground.
- It will be considered a delay of game when a team or coach tries to call a timeout when they are in a situation where they are not allowed to.
- Eligible receivers illegally touching the ball if they go out of bounds and coming back in has been changed from a five yard penalty to a loss of down.
- Multiple spots for enforcement for a double call after a change in possession has been removed.

These are the rules approved on March 22, 2016. This means more changes could occur before the start of the 2016 season.
