The NFL has created seven new rules for the upcoming NFL season. They are as follows.

  1. PATs will permanently be moved to the 15-yard line. Also, the defense can return PATs if necessary.
  2. Offense and defensive play callers will be allowed to use coach-to-player communication regardless of location (field, booth, etc).
  3. All forms of chop blocks are prohibited.
  4. Horse collar now refers to being grabbed on anything from the name plate up and being pulled towards the ground.
  5. It will be considered a delay of game when a team or coach tries to call a timeout when they are in a situation where they are not allowed to.
  6. Eligible receivers illegally touching the ball if they go out of bounds and coming back in has been changed from a five yard penalty to a loss of down.
  7. Multiple spots for enforcement for a double call after a change in possession has been removed.

These are the rules approved on March 22, 2016. This means more changes could occur before the start of the 2016 season.
