Tonight, 10-seeded Syracuse will face off against 15-seeded Middle Tennessee. The winner will then play 11-seeded Gonzaga in the Sweet 16. Syracuse, coming off a powerful win against Dayton, will look to use that momentum to help them overcome Middle Tennessee. Middle Tennessee is only the eighth 15-seed to ever advance to the round of 32. Only one 15-seed has ever made it to the Sweet 16 (Florida Gulf Coast), so Middle Tennessee has a chance to make history tonight.
No matter what, a 10+ seed will make it to the Elite Eight. In fact, all 3 of the 10+ seeds to ever win in the Elite Eight and advance to the Final Four were 11 seeds.
Tonight, we will be able to see if Middle Tennessee’s huge win over Michigan State was just a fluke or if they truly are the real deal. My guess is it’ll be a fun game to watch, with each possession mattering late in the game.
Final score prediction: Syracuse 64, Middle Tennessee 59.
