Day 1 is over across the pond and there were six games today that were most all entertaining. Here’s how they panned out.
Everton 0–2 Arsenal
Welbeck (7′), A. Iwobi (42′)
Arsenal really showed what they’re made of today and Arsene Wenger showed why he should stay as Arsenals manager. Young Rashford-esque Alex Iwobi played very well after his performance in their most recent Champions League game vs Barcelona.
Crystal Palace 0–1 Leicester City
Mahrez (34′)
Not much to say here. Riyad Mahrez continues to shine, while Leicester continues to prove why they deserve the league title.
Chelsea 2–2 West Ham
Lanzini (17′), Fabregas (45+3′), Carroll (61′), Fabregas (89′ PEN)
Cesc Fabregas has his first brace in some time. He scores a brilliant free kick and also took the penalty kick conducted by Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
West Brom 0–1 Norwich City
R. Brady (50′)
Not much to say here. Very average game all around. Brady’s goal came on a few defensive errors by West Brom. This gives them a boost out of the relegation zone.
Watford 1–2 Stoke City
J. Walters (18′) , Joselu (51′), Deeney (86′)
Stoke City scored early and then played good defense from here on out. Troy Deeney scored just before stoppage time, but it was just too late.
Swansea 1–0 Aston Villa
F. Fernandez (53′)
Federico Fernandez scores this game’s only goal. It came on a header off of a free kick just after half time. This now leaves Aston Villa with a 1 to 7 win to loss ratio, and practically guaranteeing relegation.
I will post again after tomorrow’s matches.
